Now we come to my favourite pastime in Kissimme and Orlando, shopping! Everything is so inexpensive, it's a real shoppers paradise, but do keep in mind that you will have to add sales tax onto the quoted price. All the shopping malls have air conditioning which is a bonus, however if visiting the flea market it would be best to choose a cooler day is the flea market has no air conditioning in place and the heat can become stifling. There are many excellent shopping malls and outlet stores, including -
Florida Mall
The Florida Mall is situated on Sand Lake Road, just off International Drive. This impressive shopping mall has over 250 stores, including Sears, JC Penney, Dillards and Nordstrom. Take note of where you park your car as there are multiple exits from the mall and you could end up searching for hours in the searing heat for your vehicle.
Premium Outlet Mall
Premium Outlet Mall is a Spanish themed designer located on Vineland Avenue. The mall features apprx. 150 outlet stores including Lacoste, Giorgio Armani, Barney's New York Outlet and Burberry to name a few.
Pointe Orlando
Pointe Orlando on International Drive, a mix between shops, cinema, pubs, Wonderworks. Hard Rock Vault is now closed, which is a real shame as it made for a very interesting, enjoyable visit.
Altamonte Mall,
Altamonte Mall is a specialty shopping mall in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This mall has 160 shops, 15 restaurants and 18 movie screens.
Festival Bay Mall
Festival Bay Mall is located on the site of one of the old Belz Factory Outlet malls at the north of International Drive. Festival Bay Mall is well laid out and has a mix of stores and entertainment facilities. Stores include Bass Pro Shops, Ron Jons Surf Shop, Nine West, National Book Warehouse and Pacific Sunwear amongst others. Festival Bay Mall also houses a 20 screen Cinemark, glow in the dark minature golf, Vans skatepark and Ron Jon Surfpark scheduled for 2007. Establishments serving food and refreshments at Festival Bay include Bergamos Italian Buffet, Cricketers Arms English Pub, Subway, Villa Pizza, Long John Silvers and Cold Stone Creamery
Walmart
If you are thinking of visiting the 24 hour Walmart Store on Highway 192, Kissimmee, best that you maybe set aside half a day for your adventure. This store is huge! In no other shop can you browse the aisles for your weekly shopping and get your car fitted with new tyres, new keys cut, buy a good fishing rod and tackle, Craft section with 'make-your-own' gifts and 12 bore shotgun (for the hunters in the family!) If all you intend to do is your weekly shop, best go here at 7.00a.m as after that, the queues at checkout will be horrendous. Having said that, it's well worth a visit.
Ross Dress For Less
The Ross Stores are worth a mention. This is basically a catalogue outlet store. You do have to wade through rows upon rows of clothes which look as though they have just been thrown on rails in a haphazard fashion but it is well worth taking the time as Calvin Klein articles, Ralph Lauren etc. can be picked up for as little as $10 a piece and discounts are given to senior citizens
Old Town, Highway 192, Kissimmee
Old Town, has more than just shops. It has over 75 specialty shops but also has classic car parades, amusement rides, bars, classic bike shows etc. For more information on Old Town please see our 'Days Out' page
