Kissimmee Prairie Reserve State Park

Kissimmee Prairie Reserve State Park, one of the largest preserves of Florida dry prairie, offer Prairie Buggy Tours between November and March at a very low cost. For nature lovers, the prairie is definately one to add to your itinerary, here you can spot sandhill crane, crested caracara and many other endangered plants and animals. The park even offers primitive, overnight camping facilities, which seem to be popular, as, due to the remote location, this is an excellent spot for stargazing. Lake Kissimmee State Park

Boating, canooeing and fishing are some of the activities offered at Lake Kissimmee State Park, located just off S.R 60. Life in 1800's Kissimmee is promoted at the cow camp where a cow hunter is on hand to chat about the life and times of that byegone time.

Historical Museum And Pioneer Centre

Historical Museum and Pioneer Centre, 750 North Bass Road is an 8 acre centre dedicated to preserving an age long gone. The site features 2 wooden buildings, The Lanier House and The Tyson Home, which were restored and moved to the site. The Lanier House is a 'Cracker Style' home dating from the 1800's and the Tyson Home is now used to recreate a turn of the century General Store. A modern prefabricated building hosts a collection of antiques donated by the local community. Entry is by donation, although it is suggested that donation offered be $2 per adult and $1 per child.

Downtown Kissimmee

Downtown Kissimmee makes for a pleasant half day visit, with its shops, antique mall and restaurants. Alternatively, pack a picnic and head for the Lakefront Park on Lake Toho.

Old Town

Old Town, mentioned on this site previously, is definately one to visit. An old style, recreated cowboy town with shops, restaurants, bars, attractions and rides, Ferris Wheel, classic car and bike shows.
