Although Florida is known as the Sunshine State, ice hockey has grown in popularity over the last few years and hockey is now popular amongst Floridians and visitors alike with NHL hockey teams such as Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers, plus ECHL hockey team Florida Everblades.
Any hockey fan visiting Florida and intending to take in a game should, if possible pay the extra few dollars and invest in a VIP pass. I purchase the VIP pass when going to a hockey game in Florida and can honestly say it is well worth the money. In the Thunderdome the pass means you can enter by the VIP entrance (no need to queue, ) there is a 'meet and greet' service, excellent restaurant / bar serving meals such as filet mignon steak (costs extra for a meal) during the hockey game bar staff bring your drink to your seat and after the game one of the hockey players make an appearance in the restaurant/ bar to sign autographs and to chat to fans. All the rink staff make sure this will be a night to remember.
