St Pete / Clearwater

My personal choice for either a day away from the parks or a few days vacation is St Pete / Clearwater beaches, one of the reasons being that St. Pete Beach and Clearwater are easily reached from both Kissimmee and International Drive and are renowned for their white sandy beaches and year round sunshine. The beaches form part of a string of barrier islands on the Pinellas Coast which line the Gulf of Mexico. Other beaches forming part of the barrier islands worth visiting are Fort De Soto, Pass-A-Grille, Indian Rocks Beach and Madeira Beach. St Petersburg is also is home to the largest collection of Salvador Dali's work. Visit the official website of the Salvador Dali Museum in St Petersburg. CLICK HERE

Fort De Soto

Sanibel Island

Sanibel Island is famous for the abundance of sea shells. Vacationers can be seen every day, walking the beach collecting sea shells, so many actually that the beach ' runs out of stock ' so to speak. on a regular basis. It is illegal in many counties in Florida to take any live creature from a beach so best you check your shells to make sure there is no wildlife lurking inside

Marco Island

Marco Island, Collier County, boasts 6 miles of perfect beach and over 100 waterways. South Marco Beach has 70 parking spaces and charges a $4 parking fee. Tigertail Beach County Park has 190 parking spaces and again charges a $4 parking fee. Website...
