Meridia
Meridia (sibutramine) is a prescription medicine that works by affecting certain chemicals in your body responsible for healthy weight maintenance. When the chemicals are affected you can eat less without trying too hard and lose weight consistently. Therefore, this medicine is intended for efficient weight loss, but it is not going to help you lose weight if you take it alone without dieting an exercising. If you have high blood pressure, some eating disorder, or if you are taking any other diet pills at the moment, taking Meridia is not recommended. You are also not supposed to start taking this medication if you have an allergy to it, as an allergic reaction that is very likely to happen is not going to make your treatment more efficient. Combining Meridia with any of the following medications is not recommended, as serious and potentially lethal health effects are possible: isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline, and rasagiline. The drugs mentioned belong to the class of MAO inhibitors and are most often prescribed for people suffering from depression and other related conditions. At least 14 days should pass between a dose of MAO inhibitor and Meridia to prevent serious side effects from taking place. You also need to tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medications, as Meridia can cause a number of interactions. Migraine headache medicines, narcotic pain medicines and antidepressants are not going to cause lethal side effects similar to the ones caused by MAO inhibitors, but the effects may still be quite unpleasant and affect the quality of the treatment. Your doctor needs to know as much as possible from your personal and family medical history, so make sure you mention any of the following health conditions you have that may potentially affect your treatment and efficiency of Meridia: a history of gallstones, heart disease, a bleeding disorder, seizures, underactive thyroid, a history of heart attack, high blood pressure, glaucoma, depression, a history of a stroke, and liver or kidney disease. Other health conditions can also interfere with the effects of Meridia, but these are the ones most important to mention. Make sure you seek emergency medical assistance if you have accidentally or on purpose taken to much of this drug, as the health effects you experience may get worse with time.
